How to Delete Your Data

If you signed up to Instarate using Facebook, Google, or email, and you would like to delete your account and all associated personal data, you have two options:

Option 1: Email Request

Send an email to [email protected] with:

  • Subject: Delete my account
  • Body: Include the email address associated with your Instarate account (and your Instagram username, if applicable)

We will process your request and permanently delete your account within 30 days, and send you a confirmation email once completed.

Option 2: Revoke App Access (Facebook/Google)

If you signed up using Facebook or Google, you can also revoke Instarate's access to your account:

  • Facebook: Go to Settings & Privacy → Settings → Apps and Websites → find "Instarate" → Remove
  • Google: Go to your Google Account security page → find "Instarate" → Remove Access

Note: Revoking app access stops future login but does not automatically delete data we've already stored. To fully remove your data, follow Option 1.

What Gets Deleted

  • Your account credentials (email, password, social login IDs — Google/Facebook)
  • Your profile's personal content (bio, avatar, cover photo, services, schedules, availability)

What Is Retained

Instarate is a review-based platform. To preserve the integrity of reviews other people have left about you or about accounts you have reviewed, the following information remains on the platform even after account deletion:

  • Your Instagram username as a public profile identifier — if other users have left reviews for you, the profile (keyed by your Instagram handle) stays on Instarate as an unclaimed profile so those reviews remain visible. You can no longer log in or manage it, but the Instagram handle and associated reviews stay public.
  • The specialty and city associated with your profile — these remain linked to the unclaimed profile so users can still discover the reviews in local search.
  • Reviews you left for other accounts — these remain visible on the target account's profile. The connection to your personal account is removed, but the review content stays.
  • Aggregated/anonymized analytics data — we may retain non-identifying statistics.
  • Legal compliance data — records we are required to keep by law (e.g., tax/financial records) for the legally mandated retention period.

If you want your Instagram handle removed from Instarate entirely (including the reviews others left about you), state this explicitly in your deletion request and we will evaluate it on a case-by-case basis.
